About Ljubljana and Lake Bled
Ljubljana is one of Europe’s greenest capitals, with a car-free centre along the Ljubljanica river, elegant bridges and a medieval castle above the old town.
Lake Bled lies at the foot of the Julian Alps. The tiny island with the Church of the Assumption, reached by traditional wooden pletna boats, and Bled Castle on its cliff make it one of the most photographed places in Europe.
Tips from our drivers
- Bring your ID: no border checks, but you are crossing into Slovenia.
- Bled cream cake (kremšnita) is best at the lakeside cafés.
- The pletna boat takes about 20 minutes each way to the island.
- Slovenian vignette is included in our price.
