About Istria
Istria is the heart-shaped peninsula in the north of the Croatian coast. Its interior is green and hilly, dotted with medieval towns such as Motovun, Grožnjan and Hum, and known for white truffles, olive oil and Malvazija wine. On the coast, Rovinj and Poreč keep the colourful Venetian look of their centuries under Venice, while Pula has one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world.
Distances inside Istria are short, so a private driver lets you see far more in a day than public transport ever could – and you can stop at a winery or an olive-oil producer whenever you like.
Tips from our drivers
- Truffle season is from September to December – book a truffle hunt in advance.
- Rovinj’s old town is car-free; your driver drops you at the edge and waits.
- Two days are much more relaxed than one; ask us about overnight stays.
- Bring cash for small konobas and markets in the hill towns.
