About Croatian Zagorje
Hrvatsko zagorje is a hilly region north of Zagreb, dotted with castles, baroque churches, small vineyards and thermal springs. It is famous for its home-style cooking, especially štrukli, turkey with mlinci and licitar gingerbread hearts.
The Krapina Neanderthal Museum stands next to the Hušnjakovo site, one of the richest Neanderthal finds in the world, while Kumrovec’s open-air museum preserves a traditional village.
